My significant other bought me this beautiful Bougainvillea Bonsai for one of my Mother's Day gifts. I have gently mentioned that while I like flowers, but I LOVE plants and the idea that it will last longer than a week or two, and he actually listened.
This Bougainvillea Bonsai did very well the first three months after I received it. Thereafter, all the blooms fell off, the leaves went too, one by one. It just wasn't producing any flowers even though I followed the directions, what little there is: water me every two to three days, full sun. Nothing was happening. The fall was coming so I had to move my plants to a brighter area. In order to make room for all the orchids that needed sunlight, I took this plant further away from the window, trimmed all the dead parts off and talked to it everyday.
The Bougainvillea Bonsai started blooming again since July, and has been the same until today. These pictures were taken two weeks ago. Since this is an indoor Bougainvillea Bonsai the blooms last a long time. So although the directions said "full sun" my Bougainvillea Bonsai likes less, and filtered sun.
Thanks for your visit.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful plant! I too would much rather be given a plant than flowers. Especially one as beautiful as the one your husband gave you. Smiles to you Dear!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty and what a wonderful gift, you must have a definte green thumb to keep it going for so long. I don't often participate but can't wait for Fertilizer Friday to see everyone's green thumb.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought Bougainvilleas were so beautiful and tried one (an annual here) one summer. It didn't do that great. But a Bonsai - how wonderful! I absolutely love Bonsai but know better than to try one as I'm sure I would kill it and it just wouldn't be like killing a young plant. I'm afraid it would kill me to lose it. ;-)
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful color!
