I was at the point where I didn't want to go anywhere unless I could find something to carry her in. I knew I had to start showing some tough love. That was when I came up with a discipline for myself for when it happens. I would chased her down as fast as I could, put her in still mode, gave her a time out and a warning. If she does it again the second time, and she usually did, I took her home. Even if it took great efforts to get ready and get to the park, I had to suck-it-up and leave.
It has only been the last few times, that she would actually tell me when she wants to go across the fields... to other side of the park... Today, she no longer runs off like she used to, and I am a much happier momma, more relaxed. :-0
Thanks for stopping by today.

I have to laugh, Amanda - Trinity is so cute, I can't imagine her giving you a merry chase across the playground or wherever her fancy takes her. I always thought boys were harder but I might be wrong, huh? I guess it is important to let them know who is boss!!
ReplyDeleteYour tough love approach seems to be working. Keep up the good work.

Maybe you should start training her for the olympics.
ReplyDeleteShe obviously has lots of energy. How good are you at running? It could be a good positive bonding to take her for a daily run. Who knows, 15 minutes a day may also be really good for you.
Tough love does the trick, didn't it? I can't blame Miss T for trying to explore the universe that she lives in though. So many things to see, touch, and experiment!

A typical child testing her mother. She is a precious child so try to keep an eye on her. My great grandson starts to kindergarten to day. Rather sad in a way

Having raised four by myself, I can totally relate. My youngest was the worse. It is good you have set some boundaries and she is learning.
