H is for Hologram. Hologram is a photograph. It gives a three dimensional view of the object photographed. The word is derived from Greek. Holo means 'whole', and gram means 'message.'
A few days back I took my mother to therapy, and while waiting for the massage tables I saw these beautiful hydrangeas in front of the office. They lured me and tempted me to go after some holograms.
I am taking the easy way out this week, because both words are not new to me, but do feel guilty about the promise I made to myself. So here is an H word that I probably learned in biology but could use a refresher: hypothalamus. The hypothalamus forms the floor of the third cavity or ventricle in the brain. Below and connected to it is the stalk of the pituitary gland. The hypothalamus helps regulate metabolism or body functioning.
Thanks for stopping by today.

Excellent H! I've always been fascinated by holograms.
ReplyDeleteWhite flowers are not easy to shoot. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHypothalamus is a pretty significant part of the brain. I'm no medic but I do know it can upset the balance of one's nature if it is damaged. Very nicely done hydrangeas.
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm learning a new word today, though I don't know when I'm going to use it :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry for the lack of visiting, but school starts and there are million other things to do..
I was watching the cartoon Arthur this a.m., and there was a rock band all the kids wanted to see who turned out to be nothing but holograms!

I love holograms of hydrangeas! I also love to learn new words, but hypothalamus is not a word that I will remember, I don't think.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Your hydrangea image is lovely. I am a RN so I do know about the hypothalmus! hugs♥olive
ReplyDeleteAlright, looks like I am the only one around in here who haven't come across this word or had it all forgotten.. And, yeah, I am taking the time to digest the information.. Thanks for sharing and teaching me something new today.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe H words you mentioned here are known to me... I just don't remember to use them in my daily conversation. For the Holograms... I just use photos, pics, pix, pictures and snapshots... for the hydrangeas... i just call it flower hahaha because it is easier to say so with hypothalamus. And just thinking of those words give me a headache. hahaha. But thanks for sharing... it's nice to be reminded.
ReplyDeleteI like holograms, hydrangeas and my hypothalmus but probably use these words very infrequently. he he. Nice holograms. I have the worst luck with pictures of white flowers but yours are stunning.
ReplyDeleteI felt so clever I knew what the words meant before I looked at the meanings.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been around lately, so I guess I've missed A to G?
@Tumblewords: Hologram is such a forgotten word in photography. We don't use it enough.
ReplyDelete@Kala Coming from a photographer such as yourself, I am very proud.
ReplyDelete@ChrisJYes, the word is so powerful isn't it? I think it is almost a must know for us all.
ReplyDelete@MumsyI think you will probably use hydrangea, and perhaps holograms in your photography Mumsy.
ReplyDelete@Roger Owen GreenInteresting, I love how some of the future movies make holograms and use them as the "mighty" one.
ReplyDelete@Olive Cooper Nurses and doctors are so great with vocabulary. There are so many that normal people don't know about.
ReplyDelete@Krislin Neo, Ting (Syracuse Pike) Thanks for your visit again, I will have to hop on over to see your blog. Also, there are many words that I don't know either.
ReplyDelete@RuthiYou are so funny today Ruthi, you came up with another H word. Headache. Lovely.
ReplyDelete@Judy Sheldon-WalkerThanks so much for the compliment, I thought these white flowers came out very well too.
ReplyDelete@Anne Lyken-GarnerHey, for a writer, you are one clever bee. Glad I can share them. Hypothalamus is a good one to remember.
ReplyDeleteI think holograms are so wonderful, great "H" post :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful...love your hologram...
ReplyDeleteWell, your post today is most educational!! I love hydrangeas but my favorites are the colors ranging from violet to the mauve colors. I seldom see holograms but find them quite interesting. As for my hypothalmus...it just does its job without my ever paying much attention to it - as do my other body organs, thankfully!!!
ReplyDeleteClean Shot! very clean.
