Chicken Satay Without the Skewers

Chicken Satay is a Thai dish. It is made from boneless skinless white chicken breasts and serve with peanut sauce. The nuggets are usually strung with skewer sticks. However, in this recipe, I have omitted the skewer sticks. I decided to boycott them to save preparation time and to enhance the eating experience. The boys seemed to enjoy getting to their food without the mess.

The taste is the same. There is no change in the flavoring or how it cooks, so there is really no reason to skew the chicken for every day meal unless you cooking for a party and wanted a festive presentation. It is more difficult to cook with those skewers on. Aside from the quest to save time. SO and I are looking to eat more white meat, and searching for a weight loss product that would be compatible for both of us.

Now on with the recipe. I used the chicken satay seasoning mix package, pictured here to the left. The flavoring is as good as you can get in a package. and the yellow curry isn't spicy, so my kids can eat it without any complaints.

Sometimes I would sprinkle a little salt to the chicken, but aside from that, the chicken nugget is ready to be grilled once you mix in the powder mix. You can make some cucumber salad and peanut butter sauce to go with it yourself, because this package comes with both recipes

  1. Wow -- this recipe looks fantastic. I love chicken satay and I really like the idea of doing away with skewers. I've never seen that sauce packet, but have found some great blends of different heats at our local spice store! YUM!

I'd love to try a thai dish. I've been wanting to have a day when our family do a cultural dish. We'll see how it turns out. I'm hoping my kids will love to cook as I do.

  5. You are so right about eating more white meat and less red. It is so much healthier and this looks both healthy and lean.

  7. The recipe should save you at least 15 minutes in skewing the chicken nuggets.
