I used to bring the coffee maker and condense milk with me to make Cafe Sua Da on car trips. It is a Vietnamese Ice coffee that I was so addicted to. I remember the first time SO and I traveled together, I snuck all the tools between my packing and pray that SO don't find out until it is too late to make me put it back. I thought SO was going to throw a fit, but nope, he was perfectly fine with it, and every time thereafter when we traveled, I made sure that I packed all the tools to make Cafe Sua Da with me.
Driving at night brings back memories of my uncle's visits. The smell of his cigars on the back porch. Sometimes when I see cigars for sale, I thought of him. He loved his cigars, and he wouldn't go anywhere without them either.

The two things I miss most about home besides my cats, are my lap top and my bed. No other bed seems to sleep the same. lol
ReplyDeletePeople have told me that I am crazy to pack my Bible as there is a Bible anywhere I would go, but it's not like mine.
hahaha, my hubby taught me how to make Vietnamese coffee, and yes, it is something we are addicted to :) love love it :)
ReplyDeleteOn car trips sometimes I also take a small coffee maker and my favorite creamer.
ReplyDeleteI love to travel but it is nice to get back home and sleep in my own bed.
I really can't think of anything. If I buy anything on a trip it's usually jewelry that was locally made or maybe pottery.
I'm always looking forward to come home and just be in my own house.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember buying anything strange, just presents for the kids.
After a long trip, I'm looking forward to come home to my bed, and back to my routine.
ReplyDeleteI brought my knitting needles and yarn with me, which is strange to some people, but I couldn't think of having nothing to do :-)
1. My own bed.
ReplyDelete2. A full size comforter that my middle child had become so attached to that on a previous visit to grandmas he cried for the longest time before crying himself to sleep because he wanted his blue blanket. No, he couldn't have gotten attached to a nice little baby blanket: His BLANKIE was my husband's comforter from college.
I used to make iced coffee like that but now I have my coffee black with no sugar.
ReplyDelete1. I miss my room and bed always.

I can't wait to get home and use my laptop. I'm having a hard time using someone's else.
ReplyDeleteI like to travel light, so I don't often bring anything.
hi Amanda, thanks a lot for your many comments in my site. i realized I got so excited with Vietnamese coffee I forgot to answer your questions:
ReplyDelete1. Whenever we go on trips, I always look forward to eat steamed rice and Asian vegetables such as bok choy, ong choy, yo choy, etc etc. I guess because our travel always is not in city but exploring nature, somehow the foods are limited, more into mashed potatos and steak type, which sadly, I am not so keen about.
2. I don't think I have bought anything unusual from our trips.
I'd probably get addicted to that coffee too! ;)
ReplyDelete1. Sleeping in my own bed!
2. It's not what I brought, but what the hubby brought - he loves to pile fresh ground pepper on almost everything he eats, so one year he brought his 2-1/2 foot tall pepper grinder with him when we went on vacation to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. We were the talk of all the restaurants we went to, since he'd bring it with him. One of our waiters asked to borrow it, and had fun using it to offer fresh-ground pepper to the other patrons of the restaurant. When we went back there 5 years later, many of the same people still worked there...and remembered us because of the pepper grinder. :)
