Thursday Two Questions #83 - Donors Choose to Donate

News Flash: If you have Wednesday Posts and interested in linking up - Blogger Broadcast offers  a Linky every Tuesday night / Wednesday. YOU ALL ARE WELCOME to link-up, whether it's Wordless or not.

Welcome again to another revisit post from our participants. The questions up for this week are from Jamerican Spice:
1. Are you a donor?
2. Do you give blood?

I am not currently a donor. I might change mine mind in the future, but right now, I am really scare to even have the thought. I know if is the right thing to do, and I really admire those who are donors, as well as people who give-up their bodies to science. I am just not there yet. Even though I know once dead, I wouldn't know the difference. I think if I just say yes and not think about it, it would all work out. Wouldn't it?

I don't think I can give blood as I don't meet the criteria. I can do this though - and wouldn't mind it at all. Except I have been poked a few times wrong, and it bruised my arm for weeks.

Expanding on these questions.
Here are Self Sagacity's Thursday Two Questions #83
1) If you consider being a donor, which part(s) would you donate?
2) Would you give your body up for the study of science?

  1. Amanda, yes I am a donor. I decided the last time I went to renew my iD to become a donor. I thought if I can help anyone why not?

As for blood donations, I've only done that once but I do know people who do it regularly. To be honest, I don't like needles so giving blood I don't really like.

    1. Yes, I think if they can come up with a better way to get bloood from humans, I think more people would do it.

  2. 1) I am still thinking about becoming a donor. At this point in life, it is hard to make that important decision.

    2) No, I don't give blood either, and really don't why I don't think about that!

    1. At this point in my life this is the time to do it...I think it's now or too late...I have to get use to the idea...lol

  3. I'm too chicken to sign up to donate my organs, even though I know it's the right thing to do. Maybe someday I will be brave and do it, but for now I tell myself that nobody wants my old used-up organs anyway :)

I donate blood regularly. I think I recently joined the 25 gallon club. I have a co-worker who donates sperm, but that just seems too strange. If someone has a need for that, they can contact me personally :)

    1. I see...well, now aday you know a lot of people can't have children, and it isn't always the woman. So sperm - especially from healthy, intelligent, handsome, and remarkably capable in all things are in demand...are you or your friend any of that? If so, maybe we can do a post on BB and let people know. smiles.

  4. I cannot donate blood as I am anemic. I eat very little meat and have low iron. I definitely believe in leaving our bodies to science and research so that medical staff can learn. I also hope that if any of my body organs are still functioning they may make someone else's life better.

    1. Yes, I like the idea of leaving the body to science, until I saw Dr. Nip Tuck...after that, I got the goosebumps when thinking about it.

  6. When I got my WA driver's license I signed up as an organ donor. I didn't really think that much about it at the time. I haven't given blood in awhile but might do it again at some point.

    1. I know most people just are not into the needles...otherwise if would be a no brainer. As healthy adults we have more than enough blood, well except for Judy and the amenic.

  7. I am not a donor and don't play to ever leave written proof that I am, but when my time comes to leave this old world then I will give my DH instructions as to what I would like to do with my body. I don't trust the medical community entirely with that God Complex lodged in some doctors' minds. Yes, I'm paranoid! I know.

I have not given blood, either. It's not that I'm against giving blood, but I HATE needles and I have rolling veins which makes it almost impossible to stick me only once. It usually takes three times and I'm bruised so badly after these incidents.

    1. You know what. To each its own. I feel the same way...and probably even more. As a catholic, I can't be thinking that I am coming back...or can I? But I don't want to be all chopped up...well...anyways, it doesn't matter...cause creamation is just as bad.

  8. I will donate my organs if something happens to me. But I cannot give blood because I don't meet the requirements and I'm extremely anemic.

I'd give the normal parts of me that would help someone live. Heart, kidneys etc.

    2. If they need the body for science. why waste it eh :)

Once dead, you no longer occupy.

    Happy weekend!

    2) Would you give your body up for the study of science?

I would donate my whole body, probably to the Heart Institute. My arteries are horrible (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, three plogged and stented Left Descending Arteries in my heart[I've only go three usable], and plugged arteries to my kidneys [the worst is stented]) and my heart not too much better with a double heart murmer. But strong it is.

  10. Blood, yes.
Organs to those who need them, yes.
    Body to science, no.
    I know, strange, but....
    Good questions!

  11. I applaud those who give blood. I cannot. My doctors have trouble getting blood out of me during the course of my normal blood draws. It sometimes takes me several visits to get what is needed for the doctors to run their tests on me...

Needless to say - I HATE needles and the whole process and even if I were able to - I would have to make my contribution to society in a different way, unless there was something extreme happening (ie, a loved one was dying and needed my blood to save them). Once I'm gone I've considered organ donation, but while I'm alive - I need every drop of blood I can get!

  12. I am leery of needles, but would definitely donate blood. The last time I tried...I got really pumped up and talked myself into it. I got there and they told me I had low iron levels, so I never gave blood.

I would like to donate body parts in the future (if it ever came to it) - and I was ready to put it on my license, BUT then my Mom scared me by saying that what if someone learned that I was willing to donate and they "did something to me" or killed me for body parts....um - I thought I was the one with the imagination, but apparently not. So, I'm going to have to make my wishes known elsewhere and not on my license.

Im stopping by from Create with Joy's Friendship Friday.

    Have a great weekend.

  13. I would love to be a donor, but it's a bit scary to think about. I really should just do it. Unfortunately I cannot give blood due to a condition I had when I was a baby. As for giving my body to science ~ no thank you. I know it would be another good thing, but I couldn't even think of agreeing to it.
