Spoil Me Rotten Diet and Exercise

I was the energized bunny in my younger days. It was not easy for me to keep the weight on, or get tired. I ate whatever I wanted, and had no idea what exercising might entailed. Now that age had factored into the equation I am on a slow mission to stay healthy, keeping the pounds off my body, and the muscles flexible.

Disciplining the body and the mind into a good diet, and a great exercise routine are very difficult tasks for me. Being busy doesn’t help, it makes me procrastinate and make excuses. It is easier for me to feel good about completing a task than to stay focus on an exercise, or practice eating the food that I have no desire for. I have found that this is actually a huge issue for me when it comes to changing my habits. Yet, I am becoming more and more determined to fight against the “spoil-me-rotten” attitude.

I recently started doing yoga, as well as quick stretches during my sitting times at the computer. It makes a huge difference in the way my body reacts just from giving it that five or ten minutes to relax. I have also started running up and down the stairs in my house, five times round trip every evening, and now seven or eight round trips are not such a big deal anymore.

As for a healthier diet, I tried to always incorporate vegetable in my cooking. I made sure that they are tasty so that I don’t ever have a bad vegetable meal to shun me away. My fruit selections were limited before, but as I am getting older, it has expanded to more choices year after year. Now, I like most fruits.

If you have these same issues, I recommend that you start out slow but persistent. Commit to an exercise, or times to exercise that fit into what you like to do and normally doing until the exercise routine becomes a part of your daily life, like a cup of coffee in the mornings. It should be very natural and do able without you having to go through the ten minute pep talk.

  3. i am guilty of not exercising with effort, my physical activities are simply the result of my love of hiking and swimming/boogie boarding in the ocean, thankfully, as I do them, I am exercising :) otherwise, I do not know if I can bring myself to the gym to exercise :( I love dancing though, so that is one thing I would do if there is no hiking and swimming. thankfully, since I was a kid, I have fondness for vegetables and fruits, I thrive on them :)

    1. I think dancing is a great exercise if people can incorporate it into a work-out. But perhaps dancing isn't enough. I know dancers that are overweight still.

  10. I will go on the treadmill 2 days a week and watch tv at the same time....you kind of forget that you are exercising. (Well almost.) I am following Weight Watchers...it is the only thing that helped me drop 20 lbs. I would love to lose 20 more and I'd be happy. Good luck to you in your efforts! It ain't easy! :)
