Choices Shampoos Conditioners and Body Lotions - Thursday Two Questions #113

The photo on the left is actually the nicer angle of my shower. I usually have more than one brand of shampoo. One for de -coating / cleansing, another for conditioning my tangle -y hair, yet another for my dry scalp. As I get older, keeping my scalp from dryness has been a challenge - among some other things I don't want to mention here.
Oh, and there are the conditioners that I must use for my long hair, to untangle it. One for color treated hair that is supposed to be more moisturizing, and another for just everyday, so that it doesn't weight my hair down. And the different smells of body wash, since I get tire of just the one smell.

Needless to say, whenever I go into the shower, I feel like I am in a store. Always the decision to make...What to use today? What do I feel like? I know, it is the least of our worries right? But hey, at least I can say those are the moments of luxury for me. When I actually can waste time on something frivolous like that.

Just a quick shout-out to my PM since he just had a houston spine surgery. I hope you are doing well and recover quickly!

Have a wonderful week. Thanks for linking and playing along.

  1. I like Pantene but I also like VO5 which is less expensive and has many more scents.

    1. I love Pantene, I think it is next to salon products. I think we used to use VO5 a long time ago, and it was very good too.

  2. That's neat, Amanda. When I go shower I feel like I am in a store also. Mrs. Jim has serval choices there. And then of course there is MY shampo, just one variety.

I have fairly severe dermatitis and so I use a non-perfumed shampoo. I like the big white bottle of WalMart knock-off of an expensive brand. Right now I've used my bottle so I am using a clear Suave right now.

I have stopped using conditioner as I was getting a lot of 'build up' from it.

    1. Isn't it nice to know you have choices? When I was young, I am not sure if we had choices, it was one brand and no conditioners. My hair was always a pain because of the tangles.

  3. Amanda, I switch shampoos (a lot)! I like to take a handful of salt and scrub my scalp while washing my hair and one of my favorite shampoos is VO5 strawberry moisturizer. The same shampoo can create a scalp build up.

I like ones that smell either spicy or fruity as I have a problem with floral fragrances and get migraines from them. I love the peachy body wash by Avon and will stack up when it's on sale.

    1. I did not know that we can use salt on our scalp. Sounds like VO5 is the hit with this group. I like switching too, I get bore with the same smell and texture.

  4. I only use one brand of shampoo and conditioner. One body wash, and the kids have their own things too. So my shower looks very much like yours.

I am not particular with just one brand, and I bought whatever was on sales when I need them.

    1. Yes. I tried to stick with one, but I tend to have to try others for the kids' sake. If I think it is good, I will buy it for them and if not, then I will try something else.

  5. Somewhere along the line, I stopped using Dove and Carees bar soap and switched to using nothing but Ivory for my entire body. Looking back I think I may have done this largely because I was really sensitive to fragrances when I was prego. So, I've been using Ivory faithfully for 24 years till recently. My skin gets so dry in the winter that I thought it was time to do something different. I'm now testing out Oil of Olay with Shea Butter & I have two different brands waiting to be tried out yet. Currently, I do see a small improvement with my skin. This may take time to lock on the right soap.

As for shampoos, I've been switching brands to find the right one that works best for my fine hair texture. Last winter we picked up three or four very expensive shampoos at Target. I meant to put a comparison post up about these, but wouldn't you know it - I forgot! Anywho there was one clear winner of the lot called Fakkai Full Volume Shampoo. This has been the one product which really lives up to the volume part. I liked it so much that I decided to try the Fakkai Full Volume Mouse and it works beautifully, too. I now get both products through Amazon's Subscribe & Save program which I love! Thanks for hosting T2Q, my friend and I'm pretty certain I won't be hanging around Blogosphere next Thursday, so have a Happy Thanksgiving! =D

    1. I will have to look Fakkai up on Amazon. Word of mouth goes a long way.

  6. I would use different shampoos and change them often as using the same one after a long time loses its effectiveness.

    1. I have heard people say that is the reason they switched too, but I don't quite know how that is possible.

  8. You do have quite the decisions to make huh!

I will purchase different scents of body washes but I only keep two in the shower. One for me and one for the kids.

I'm still trying to find the right condition and shampoo for our hair. So I do buy different ones to try to find a good one for our hair.

    Aloha!

  9. Oh my gosh, you should see my shower. I have 50 million products in it. All different brands of shampoo, conditioner, facial scrubs, body washes. It looks like a mini h&b market in there! Glad I am not the only one ;)
