Spicy Thai Basil Beef
Thai Basil Beef is a dish that can be consumed for lunch or dinner. It is a very simple dish to prepare, and yet very tasty. I love ground beef with rice on a gloomy day. The spicy flavoring of Thai chilies add enough kick to the dish and bring plenty of fun to the meal. Below is a recipe on how to make your own Spicy Thai Beef Basil dish. Hmm, so yummy, I want some now.
Ingredients
3 Tablespoons fish sauce, 1 Tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon lime juice, 1 Tablespoons brown sugar, 1 Tablespoons cooking oil (canola works fine)
2 large cloves of garlic finely chopped, 1 medium yellow onion sliced thin, 1-2 Thai chilies finely chopped (jalapeños or serranos will work as well), 1 lb ground sirloin beef, 1/2 c red bell pepper strips, 1 c Thai or sweet basil (loosely packed), 2 c cooked rice
Preparation In a small bowl, mix together the fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice and brown sugar. Set aside. In a large skillet, heat the oil. Add the garlic and cook over medium high heat until golden, add the chilies, yellow onion and cook for a minute. Add the ground beef to the garlic, yellow onion & chilies. Separate the meat with your spoon while cooking until it browns completely. Once browned, add the bell pepper strips, and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until tender. Add the sauce and mix well. Cook for about 30-60 seconds and remove from heat. Finally, stir in the basil.
Serve over cooked brown or white rice. Garnish with a couple extra sprigs of basil and some lime wedges if you like, and enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by today.

It's a sunny and warm day in Las Vegas. I've been living on the West coast for 18 years. It's funny when friends, from Maine, will mention that they're shoveling snow I caught off guard. That's right, you're dealing with snow!
Hope you have a wonderful and delicious week!
