During the Christmas and New Year holidays, we were super active. We did something everyday rained or snowed. Pictured here are some photos of Trinity's first time in snow. The weather was so bad during Christmas week that we'd decided to cancel our original plans, but ended up salvaging the snow day last minute anyways. We took her sledding with another family. We were glad to have been able to give Trinity the first snow experience at Strawberry Lodge. Since we only live a few hours away from the sledding areas, it was not hard getting there considering the schedule challenges.
Strawberry Lodge is a very homey kind of place. It isn't a huge commercialized hotel, but more family oriented. Across the street are hills and areas of sledding. This makes it very convenient for parents to walk kids over instead of having to drive and worry about parking. We walked into the "sledding parks" so it was totally FREE to sled. But, if you drive to the sledding parks, there is a parking charge. We also brought our own sleds, so it was very FREE. The area where Trinity is pictured below had virgin snow. It was so awesome to see such beautiful and fluffy white snow. The weather was cold but not to the point that you had to keep a heavy coat on, as you can see the sun was shinning brightly for a perfect snow day!

This year was truly blessed in that we have so many new grands and great grands. It was totally awesome watching little faces light up as they experienced their first Christmas sights. A drawback this year was that our job did not pay us for Christmas eve or new years eve, but our office was closed. Having to go through the holidays not able to pay all the bills let alone purchase gifts does put a little damper on things.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed you have! Your family has multiplied quite nicely. It will be awesome for family gatherings from now on!
DeleteAmanda, these shots are just adorable. It seems as if you and your family had a wonderful holiday. I wish we would have snow once in a while.
ReplyDeleteWe actually do the same thing each year which is spending the holiday with the family, eating, watching movies and opening gifts.
Thank you Jo. Being in the snow, it takes a lot of work to carry a camera, so I really didn't take as much as I should have!
DeleteThat does look like a perfect snow day!
ReplyDeletePerfect as it could be, with sun and warmth.
DeleteLooks like she has fun, and you parents did too. After visiting you, we were just home, and then caught a bit of fun at the zoo.
ReplyDeleteI haven't taken Trinity to the Zoo - a real one. Can you believe that? Partly because I had such a bad experience at the last one, that I never initiate it with SO!
DeleteOur Christmas was the same for so many years now that as soon as it was over, it was more of a relieve than anything else.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go anywhere or do anything for first time! JoJo did, going snowboarding upnorth, and ended up with a fractured wrist..
That was the first time with a injured son on Christmas. I know what you mean about your Christmases. It really stinks.
DeleteEvery Christmas I can spend with family is always better than the one before. It would have been super duper, if it had snowed, though. The only snow we saw was left-over snow along the road and that wasn't much to get excited over. As far as doing something new or for the first time, nope - nothing! These are great pics of your precious daughter and I can imagine how thrilled she must have been. Did she try to take the snow home with her? We see this all the time in the Smoky's when southern visitors come to our mountains. It's so funny because usually, if there is snow at the top then the towns in the nearby foothills don't and the temperatures are usually too warm for the snow to survive the trip down the mountain. lol Thanks for hosting, my friend!
ReplyDeleteTrinity did not want to leave. She was so in love with the snow and the sledding experience that she cried when we took her away.
DeleteIt certainly looks like a great place to relax and have fun. And yes, it's magical to play on the virgin snow. The girls too are having a a good time. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteThe virgin snow is awesome. I could not believe how deep it was or how fluffy like powder it was. Great snow.
DeleteYou certainly can't be a fun and free day now, can you? Looks like she is really enjoying herself. We didn't get a lot of snow here yet, and what we did is almost melted. As much as I don't like the snow, I am hoping for one good dumping of it so we can go tubing at least once this year.
ReplyDeleteTubing sounds like fun too. I can't wait to do that at night. It supposed to be awesome!
DeleteI'm glad you made it a family mission to just have fun!
ReplyDeleteWith it been so cold, I'd probably want to just curl up! ;)
My 2012 holidays was just as normal and laid back with the occasional fireworks just like other years :)
I did visit a new family for Christmas dinner. They were Polish and Italian and just simply delightful!
I had wonderful comments on how well behaved my children were (considering they were the only ones there) and it helps me know they aren't just how I see them, but others do too.
Trinity is just adorable. I know my son wishes to experience the snow and I hope sometime we can travel somewhere just for his wish.
Happy Thursday!
That was a great compliment about your children, that must have made you feel proud, relieved and that your work has paid off. I know I do sometimes judge myself based on how my kids are.
DeleteA long time ago, my parents visited families at Christmas too. Those times were wonderful memories.
That's my daughter's name too! We'd love to sled but rarely get enough snow around here. Oh well, we'll keep hoping!
ReplyDeleteFollowing from Friendship Friday blog hop at Create with Joy! :O)
Wow! What a nice surprise about the name. I visited your blog. Thanks for stopping by today.
DeleteI LOVED reading your post and seeing your beautiful daughter. I am SO glad you had such a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, we were sick during both the entire holiday season so we did not do much at all. The only real highlight, activity wise, was going out to see The Hobbit!
Thanks! Being sick is so annoying on the holidays. We wanted to go see the hobbit too, perhaps we will tonight!
DeleteI got you back Chris, thanks for the initiative. I appreciate it.
