Recently, I went to a party at a friend’s house. The families invited became acquainted because our kids go to the same school and are in the same grade. Our parties are about letting the kids play together, which of course we love as it gives the parents a bit of relief as the kids entertain one another. As is typical, the kids are running and chasing and having a great time shooting Nerf guns and pretending to carve each other with their new Minecraft foam swords. The adults are eating too much delicious food and drinking too much wine.
Unfortunately, the kids decided to bring their game into the living room where the adults were congregating. One thing led to another and an accident happened with drink and food spilling on the
seating cushions. The couch’s cushions were the type where the cover could be unzipped in the back. We did that immediately and put the seat fabric covers in the wash. The interior foam was another matter. For one, it wasn’t in the best condition. And soon, we knew it was going to be next to impossible to get both the stain and the smell out. Someone mentioned they knew of a great place to order replacements through an online website:
The Foam Factory. The company offers replacement foam in different sizes and shapes to fit just about any couch. My friend ended up with new comfortable cushions, which saved her from having to buy a replacement couch.

I had no idea they actually made replacement foam for cushions. I actually purchased pillows and just put them into the cover and it worked to some extent, but I'm for sure going to do this next time around, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYes. Isn't it great that you now have a choice to keep that comfortable couch and just switch out the cushions?
DeleteI've had my fair share of accidents because of parties and social gatherings. It's really cool to see a fix for such a problem. I've spilled many things on my furniture and all that, but I've never replaced the foam cushions. Then again, my couches need new foam anyways because the foam has seen better days.
ReplyDeleteI think our nature is to throw away most things. It's nice to know that we can replace the foam and not having to spend thousands of dollars on replacing the whole couch.
DeleteI've actually replaced my cushions at a similar place, forgot who it was though. I didn't know they made it prior as well, but I'm glad they did, because it seems like it works wonders for the furniture market. Wish I never had to replace stuff though, that'd be a lot better. :D
ReplyDeleteCan't have it all Amy, but the fact that you were conservative still meant that you're wiser and less wasteful than most people.
DeleteI often worry about parties and such, but thank goodness I don't have kids yet to worry about this sort of thing. One of these days I will though and I will be waiting for that spill to happen.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope not Donald, but if you did have a spill, you'll know where to go! :d
DeleteI think that once I have children, I will also be more concerned about this for sure.
DeleteUgh, you don't even know how many times I've had family over and my little cousins, nieces, nephews and so on would spill all over my house. I would love to replace some of my cushions though, because they've had their fair share of use, and I hate buying new furniture.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad, but I have had to be a guard for the nieces and nephews when we were younger. I was the mean aunt, and all because we didn't want them to destroy our furniture and things in the house.
DeleteI also did not know there was a place that would offer replacement foam for cushions. I get very nervous about liquid around my furniture, so I should look into this.
ReplyDeleteSome people are very cautious about the spills, I am too, but I figure kids are kids. I can replace things, but I can't roll back time.
DeleteYou know what? My cushions could use a little upgrade. I might have to give this place a try and see what they can do for mine!
ReplyDeleteI have an old couch with the most decent looking high back, I would love to get it revamped too.
DeleteI ended up switching to leather since we were constantly having things spilled on the furniture. It was much easier to wipe up before it soaked in. It's great to know there are cheaper options for cushion replacement though!
