Midday Flower - Lampranthus Aureus

If these Lampranthus aureus orange form flowers don't wake you up in the mornings, my coffee machine will. My SO gave me one of the best gifts in my life. I mean that literally. He bought me an automatic coffee machine that also makes wonderful cappuccinos. I use this machine everyday, and that is why I consider it to be one of the best gifts in my life. I define best by the number of usage and how often I depend on it.

I like my coffee strong, but usually just one cup in the morning, unless I am having a bad day! These flowers remind me of my coffee, strong, and shocking! I can't even pronounce the name without tripping over my tongue and that is probably why I don't have any in my yards.
My mom is a fan of these succulents. She has a few colors, white, fuchsia and this orange. The orange form grows more upright and does not sprawl on the ground like other color lampranthus aureus. She keeps trying to get me to plant some in my front yard, but I have not been convinced to own them for myself yet. The thought that they sprawl do not appeal to me. And as far as plants and flowers are concerned, I am with less is more. Nevertheless, this midday flower is great for couple of reasons, they are easy to maintain, and always blooming, winter or spring if there's sun, they are happy.

  1. oh, i have this orange flower a lot in our yard, they do not sprawl though, i use it only to line the garden with the rocks and they can hardly be seen and not invasive with my other plants, so, whenever they bloom winter to spring, our yard is lined with orange blooms it's like they came out of nowhere :)and when they do not bloom, it does not affect the landscape that much since the main plants and the rocks are there.
