If you are familiar with Rock crabs, you would agree that the ones pictured here are probably one of the best good looking Rock crabs they come by.
Although they look good and look as if they would taste good, they are no where near as good tasting as Dungeness crabs. Rock crabs' claws are much bigger and harder to crack or open, and their bodies are small and have less meat. We haven't had much of a season to indulge in Dungeness crabs for a few years now, which is probably a very good thing for my cholesterol numbers. But that's another story, today, I shall indulge first with Rock crabs.

I take any live crabs except blue crabs. They are good but too much work to get little meat. I had the first experience with rock crab at Santa Barbara years back, good but not as good as dungeness crabs.
